Urban {senior}

This week I headed off to the city to take some pictures of this beautiful girl.  We started off taking some shots here and there, it was a blast.  Then it started, everywhere we went men were hooting & whistling. Wow, I did not think that happened anymore.  It was so crazy, not that I am surprised, she is just so beautiful. People kept asking over and over, "Is she a model?" I just kept telling everyone, "Yes she is!" Haha...what a completely amazing day, I love my job. Well, see for yourself and enjoy!

TJC {newborn}

I started out my journey as a photographer thinking, with a very absolute tone, "I will never take newborn photos!" This is when God decided to challenge my thinking and I was asked to take pictures of this beautiful baby boy. My first thought was, "ahhhhh NO!" But then, I collected my thoughts and decided to give it a try and I am super happy I did. As I look back at my original thoughts about newborn photography, I realize that I was afraid of failing and being compared to others. Now, I see that I CAN do newborn photography and do it in a way that works for me. Simple photographs that showcase this amazing gift of life.

So, I suppose you want to look at a few photos? :) Well, I have to tell you first that this was an amazing experience for me. The new parents arrived with this precious little guy and my heart melted! So much so that I snapped a record 400 photos. What was I thinking? It is hard enough to pick out and edit photos but 400 to sift though...oh my. It was so hard to get the shots I wanted and it was a lot of work but, it was very rewarding. I enjoyed watching these brand new parents take care of and love this beautiful boy and he was just so sweet and perfect. I was very blessed by this experience.

 Ok, now for a couple fun photos. The new daddy is a huge Packers fan and has a Green Bay football helmet and wanted some photos with the helmet. Then, the new mommy (a Vikings fan) slowly pulled out a Vikings hat, to which daddy said, "We don't need any pictures with that." We worked and worked on getting the shot in the helmet. This was not an easy task and, at the time, the baby did not have a diaper on. All of a sudden, daddy noticed that his little bundle had peed and then the realization came that he had peed in his Packers helmet. Haha, mommy thinks this means that little guy is going to be a Vikings fan.

Jenny {family}

I just love this family to pieces and had an amazing afternoon with them!! The daughter was such a ham. Her mom was telling me how she was practicing poses in the mirror before the shoot. (Cute) So, when we got there I was beginning to tell her where to stand and, before I could say anything else, she struck a pose. It was so adorable and I started snapping photos. It did not end there either, she was "modeling" the entire time. The son was more quiet and reluctantly went along with whatever his sister wanted. What a great big brother and a super handsome guy. They are all so adorable and I just love how much they love each other. I love my job!

The next 2 shots are best shown together. I love how this little sister has her big brother wrapped around her little finger. She wanted this kissing shot and made the cutest pouting face to get it. LOVE!

Business Shoots

This week I had a couple fun little professional shoots; a journalist and a businessman. Both of these lovely people wanted photos for their websites and business portfolios. It was a very quick process and super cool to try something new.  I really enjoyed it.

SD {senior}

This shoot started a little scary, with the rain threatening to come down at any moment. Then my senior, a ray of sunshine, showed up and the rain stayed away. She was gorgeous and so incredibly sweet. I enjoyed every minute of my shoot with her and, as I snapped the last photo, it started raining...and pouring. I am pretty sure the old man was snoring! Enjoy :)

3 Ways to Beautiful {seniors}

Spring is in the air and I had the most amazing outdoor shoot with three of the most beautiful girls yesterday. Oh my goodness, they made my job so easy! It was exciting to watch these three young ladies have so much fun together and be able to capture their beauty, inside and out. This first photo is like a window to who these girls are. I feel like each photo captures the girls' personalities so well. Fun, sassy and sweet (you pick which is which)...all with the same fedora!

Ok, here is one more shot of each of these beautiful girls, and man, it was so hard to choose which ones to post. If you want to see more of this fun spring shoot follow this link to my

Africa Joy

Africa...WOW! This trip was one of the most amazing moments in my life. I feel like this picture captures the time for us there perfectly. We went there to try and help these awesome kids in whatever ways we could and, hopefully, bring some joy into their life. It was incredible to find out that, in reality, they brought us so much more joy than I could have ever imagined. These kids have next to nothing, yet the joy and love they have in their hearts overflows. I will be forever changed!

Sports Portraits - Bethany Soccer

Doing sports portraits is crazy, fast paced & fun. I am almost always wiped out after my little 45 minute shoots. It may lack the use of some creative juices but I am still capturing a moment in these kids lives. What a awesome moment it is too, being on that varsity team can feel like you are on top of the world.

I took the sports photos for Bethany Academy (portrait & action) this year and enjoyed every second of it. The kids at this school are amazing, full of life and have incredible faith. They made it a very easy job!

Narnia

Narnia? That is what my husband says this photo reminds him of. For me, the snow flakes were just so huge and they shined so beautifully in the light...I just couldn't help myself. I guess it does look like it could be Narnia.
